kosovo, serbia.

Just got back last night after two days in Northern Kosovo. That part of Kosovo is still Serbian, the rest was taken by force after the NATO bombing in 1999. It was very disturbing to see German soldiers at the checkpoints in Serbia, with their armored vehicles bearing almost the same insignia they had in the second world war. My country lost 2.5 million people in the second world war fighting Germans ,so it felt like a slap in the face. It was very sad seeing people there living their daily lives without knowing what tomorrow will bring, with intermittent water and electricity, without supplies or roads, feeling totally abandoned.
Kosovo is an important part of Serbian history, there are Serbian Orthodox monasteries there that date back to the 1300s, and for people that reject their history and heritage there can be no future.
I don't wanna go on about it, but empires fall, governments change, and in the end everyone gets what they deserve.
